SAVANNAH, Ga., and GILLETTE, Wyo., Sept. 08, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Clearwave Fiber and Point Broadband, which operate together as Clearwave, and Visionary Broadband today announced they have signed a definitive agreement to combine, creating an independent fiber platform spanning 17 states and bringing access to fast, reliable fiber internet to approximately 700,000 homes and businesses.
Clearwave has spent years building and operating fiber networks at scale, with a focus on delivering fast, reliable internet and a customer experience people can count on, serving homes and businesses throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
“Scale only matters if it makes us better for the people we serve,” said David Armistead, Chief Executive Officer of Clearwave. “Visionary shares that conviction — build well, serve well, don’t cut corners. Together, we can do more of that, in more places.”
Visionary has been serving customers across Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, and Washington since 1994, with a track record of strong, reliable operations in some of the country’s toughest terrain.
“Visionary has been first to bring fiber to many of our communities,” said Brian Worthen, Chief Executive Officer of Visionary. “We are still the same company as when we started thirty-two years ago: customer-first, gritty, ready for anything. Combining Visionary with Clearwave gives us the scale to build fiber faster.”
David Armistead will lead the combined company. Brian Worthen will focus on advancing growth in the West and leading initiatives important to company growth.
The combination is backed by longtime investors GTCR and Berkshire Partners, whose continued support gives the combined company the resources to build faster and serve more communities well.
“Clearwave and Visionary are both strong, well-run companies with proven track records. We’re excited about the growth ahead as they come together to serve even more communities,” said Drew Walker, Managing Director, Berkshire Partners.
“Visionary is a strong complement to Clearwave. Both companies have built loyal customers and strong operations, and we’re excited to see them grow forward together. With proven track records and strong leadership teams, we’re confident this platform is well positioned for its next phase of growth,” said Stephen Jeschke, Managing Director, GTCR.
The agreement is subject to customary regulatory approvals.
