Benchmark Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: BHE), a global provider of engineering, design, and manufacturing services, today announced expanded U.S. production for Oxide Computer Company, the on-premises cloud computing company and creator of the Oxide Cloud Computer. Benchmark’s second U.S. production site adds capacity and supports the deployment of Oxide’s rack-scale integrated system.

Oxide and Benchmark partnered shortly after Oxide’s Series A funding round in 2023 to industrialize Oxide’s unique, high-density rack-scale system. The partnership initially drew on Benchmark’s U.S. engineering capabilities to address interdependent requirements for power delivery and thermal performance, before progressing to scalable rack-level production. Today’s announcement expands that relationship with additional U.S. manufacturing capacity.

“Oxide is exactly the kind of customer Benchmark is built to support: a company solving hard technical problems where engineering, supply chain, test, and manufacturing all have to come together,” said David Moezidis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Benchmark. “Expanding into a second U.S. site gives Oxide the capacity and capabilities to scale with confidence as demand grows.”

Oxide recognized that its design, supply chain, and manufacturing approach needed to support rapid scaling. As a young company with a bold vision and growth strategy, flexibility and depth of engineering capabilities were priorities for its manufacturing partner. Benchmark provided mechanical engineering and supply chain development expertise, which, paired with Oxide’s electrical, software, and operations team, enabled key early design decisions by evaluating technical trade-offs against supplier readiness and manufacturability. This collaboration continued into new product introduction (NPI) and through today’s expansion.

“When we started Oxide, we talked to many contract manufacturers, but what we needed was a manufacturing partner: one with expertise in areas we lacked, and willing to integrate deeply with our systems and teams,” said Steve Tuck, Co-Founder and CEO at Oxide Computer Company. “In Benchmark, we found both, and sharing data across engineering, test, and manufacturing has resulted in higher yields, higher quality systems, and happier customers. Touring the new facility, the site GM put it best: ‘It’s often indistinguishable who works for Benchmark and who works for Oxide.’ With demand accelerating, expanding our manufacturing capacity will allow us to bring cloud computing to more customers in their own data centers.”

The expanded U.S. manufacturing footprint gives Oxide additional capacity and supply-chain flexibility while maintaining the security, responsiveness, and close engineering collaboration required to scale its on-premises cloud infrastructure.
